When asked for a bit of biographical material, AoT's exact response was:  "Well let's just say an old guy who has spent a while reading about the war in the west.  He ain't no Ed Bearss!  A frequent speaker at the Hooter's Civil War Lecture Tour.   What can we say ? The price was right!"    Typical modesty and humor being evidenced there.

Stephen D. Wakefield was born in Alton, IL. and moved to Terre Haute, Indiana, when 12 years old.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Indiana University with highest honors in history, then from Indiana University Law School.  After this he moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where he began his career and continues to practice law.  Steve has worked for the NPS at Gettysburg and enjoys spending time on Civil War battlefields.  He lectures on Civil War topics for a variety of associations.  A former reenactor, he appears in the movies "The Blue and the Gray", "Glory", and "Gettysburg". Those of us fortunate enough to have toured Shiloh with Steve back in 1999 know the enthusiasm he brings to the topic and are eager for a repeat experience!  Many thanks to "AoT" for volunteering for another round of touring with the chatroom family and friends!
