Subject: RE: How much gear do you have?

Message Detail:
When I first started to amass such a great amount of mostly unnecessary gear, I used to feel the need to tote most of it everywhere I went, usually wearing myself out most times before the event began from hauling all the gear into camp and setting it all up.

Now, it depends on the event. Most events now I still attend as a private in the infantry, and though I am far from hardcore, I have truly learned to lighten the load, esp. at a one or two day event, so basically what goes is one uniform, a change of shirt, socks and drawers, some food, rounds and a gun cleaning kit. Often, since I now have made many friends in the artillery, I don't take a tent, but rather sleep under the tarp covering the cannon at night.

At the bigger reenactments or esp. the Gettysburg living histories, though, I do take most things, setting up a rather sizeable disply with canned goods, playing cards, and so forth.

So, I guess it depends on the scenario, event or length of time in the field as to what goes.

JR
