Subject: RE: How much gear do you have?

Message Detail:
Well,

In taking inventory the other day, I have realized that in six seasons of reenacting, I have accumulated quite a bit of gear. I got to looking at how different uniform combinations could be put together for different theatres and time periods, and I got to wondering, "just how many different combinations can I do?" Do some of you other reenactors out there have this same problem?

After some thought and creativeness, it seems that I can do 4 different Federal impressions and 9 different Confederate ones.

Is it just me, or do I have way too much reenacting gear? Also, why when I see sutlers do I always see more new things I feel I just need to have?

JR

When I think about it I know that I have way too much gear. Yet I don't have nearly as much as most of the reenactors I know do. Some of them have a trailer full of stuff. Tents, flies, stakes, saddles, uniforms, cots, eating utensils, books, and so many other things. I have enough equipment to portray two Union impressions and one Confederate impression. This is my fifth season. I have a trunk full of all my gear that weighs at least 150 lbs.
