Just wondering if anyone could suggest a web site or other reference to games that would have been played by children and/or adults during the 19th century, especially during the Civil War. So far our research has been fairly fruitless.

this should help you Baseball was the game of the day card playing gambling chess checkers also reading and writing letters journals was very important in that time when you research look up baseball in that time also under gambling you had poker gamecock fighting dice also singing songs together was an important fact of life you need to look up Civil War journals written by private citzens In this web site Henry has music food listed in his table of contents check that out also go to Civil War Home page Shotgun has some real goodys there on soldiers day to day fare... also check reenactment in your search windows many reenactment groups have gone into what life was like in the 19th Century and have posted that data to their web pages be warned that there are hundreds of different reenactment sites so concentrate on civilian impressions there are civilian reenactment groups out there Sanitary Commission Sutlers pastors nurses genteel ladies clubs they are out on the internet you have to sift through the sites that meet your needs ..............................
