Message Detail:
need information on a civil war boat named the "Hurt"---am doing genealogy and found that my g.g.g. grandfather was wounded in the war and was returing home when he fell overboard the "Hurt" and drowned in 1863 in wilmington n.c.
thank you
Mary Lee

Which Navy was the Hurt assigned to... Confederate or Union?

What type of vessel was the Hurt? Gunboat,Steamer Transport,Cutter, frigate, tugboat, ferry(converted) deep water or river vessel?

Please indicate what you need to know specifically about the Hurt when it was built who commanded it who owned it Was it used for commerce or built for blockade running or was comissioned as privateer ?
