I've been reading the newest edition of Blue and Gray...I've found some of it to be enlightening. Such as the fact that the CSA took civilian hostages from the town...A few of them were postmasters...most were farmers...Buford has informed me that they were taken to prevent retribution on the Confederates for seizing supplies...These men were sent to Richmond and then to the POW camp at Salisbury, NC, where they stayed until the end of the war..One died in prison...I just found this fascinating, since I had not heard this before, and wanted to share with the group.
