I am attempting to verify a story that a Prussian engineer, Julius Scheibert, played a major role in rebuilding the pontoon bridge at Falling Waters that allowed Lee to get his artillery and wagons over the Potomac after Gettysburg. I would be glad to hear from anyone interested in the Falling waters bridge. I hope to use the story in a new book on the reactions and roles of Europeans who were in America (as immigrants or visitors) during the CW. It will complement my recent book on the international dimension of the CW, "One War at a Time."
