Does anyone have any information about Col. Paul Revere, the grandson of Paul Revere (of the midnight ride fame). I'm told he fought at Gettysburg with the 20th Mass. Volunteers.
Thanks to all!
Elly
Hi Elly,
In a book I have entitled "A Yankee Spy In Richmond" by David Ryan, it says that Paul Joseph Revere was the great-grandson of the Revolutionary Paul Revere and that in January of 1862 he was a prisoner of war being held in Harwood Prison in Richmond. According to Ryan, Revere was exchanged the following month and was killed at the battle of Gettysburg. The book doesn't give his rank or his regiment, though, so I can't confirm that he was in the 20th Mass.
Hope this helps a little,
Carolyn
