Yeah, well, those Navy guys don't even know how to count....:-)
Eric Well, JD, if you had read my book, you would know. :-) About 11 AM on July 3, Merritt detached the 6th US and sent on a raid toward Fairfield. The unit, alone and unsupported, ran into the brigade of Brig. Gen. William E. "Grumble" Jones, which chopped the regiment to pieces. Eric Eric, a question on the 6th US Regulars... the placard out on South Cavalry Field at GB lists the position of the 6th US along with Merritt's other units... sources I have state the 6th was not on the field, but were out around Ortanna, at some time I believe? Could you clear up where the 6th was and when? Thanks! I did, I did! :) Had the numbers goofed up... ah well! Now I'm acting like one of those NAVY guys.... :) |
