Memorial to the Soldiers and Sailors of the Confederacy

A color bearer leads a charge in this enticing statue. With one foot forward upon laurel-graced rock and an arm outstretched, he courageously leads his comrades into combat. the names of all of the states of the confederate army are listed on the statue's base. Also inscribed on the base is the name of Walter Washington Williams, the Confederate soldier recognized by the U.S. Congress as the last surviving Confederate Civil War veteran. Williams died on December 19, 1959 at the age of 117.
